Limited range
of motion

Bruising

Warmth

Refusal to use limb (young child)

BRUISING MAY
BE ABSENT WITH
DEEP MUSCLE
BLEEDING

Muscle compartment
bleeding (calf, forearm) may cause nerve damage or vascular compromise.

Asymmetry of use or motion in the young child.

 


TREATMENT

Replace missing factor

Ice packs.

Rest affected joint/limb
w Posterior splint
w Sling
w No weight bearing

Treat early.

Repeat infusions in 12 to 24 hours.

No circumferential casting.
